These elections have already become historic. Joe Biden, who was seeking re-election, has resigned. Donald Trump narrowly escaped death in an assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania. Kamala Harris has become the hope of the Democrats. However, that's not everything. The world is at a point where the future president will have to make choices that will be recorded in the history books.

Shadows of the Political Dispute

Differences in worldviews and beliefs are frequently at the root of political disputes between Republicans and Democrats. To demonstrate the core tenets of this dispute, it is best to highlight the positions taken by the two parties' candidates for vice president, who plainly and explicitly state their convictions.

Tim Walz, the Governor of Minnesota and Democratic candidate for Vice President of the United States, is known for his liberal views, strongly supports abortion rights, supports ideas related to gender philosophy, and has made several important decisions in support of the rights of LGBTQ+ people. As Governor of Minnesota, he signed a law banning conversion therapy for children, which allows a person's sexual orientation to be changed from homosexual or bisexual to heterosexual. He also approved legislation allowing the state to take custody of children if their parents refuse to provide care that affirms the child's LGBTQ+ sexual identity.

The Republican candidate for US Vice President opposes such strong views. J.D. Vance strongly opposes abortion and supported the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. He is also a strong opponent of affirming gender ideology and has proposed legislation to make gender affirming care and transgender therapies a federal offense and prohibit the use of taxpayer funds for this purpose. He strongly supports traditional values and recognizes the importance of the traditional family and parenting.

However, does the resolution of these concerns define the United States' future? The answer should be one. The winner must be able to lead the creation of a strong and developing society, a society as strong as possible in its totality, not in individualizing divisions. So let us walk out of the shadows and highlight what is truly critical in the 2024 presidential race.

Real Challenges for the United States

The United States is at a pivotal moment in history, at a point of confrontation that could soon change the existing global order. Familiarize yourselves with the topic of the USA vs. CHINA, where it has been covered in greater detail. Here, however, let us immediately draw attention to the most important issues that can serve as a litmus test in assessing the condition of the United States, issues concerning those matters that will always play a decisive role in shaping the strength of American society, and thus one of the key elements of the strength of the American state. The solutions to these issues should be included in the election programs of both candidates for the presidency of the United States in 2024. The future of the United States depends on it, as does the vision that has shaped America's credibility as a global hegemon.

The Fall of the Middle Class

A strong middle class is often seen as a guarantor of stable democracy, its members have a greater stake in political and social processes. The stability of a state based on the strength of the middle class gives people a clear vision of social and economic progress, all of which reinforces a sense of justice and trust in the system. A strong middle class also means a more stable domestic market and less vulnerability to global fluctuations. Such stability is always conducive to the creation of spaces for innovation, the creation of new jobs and, quite simply, the dynamism of technological and economic development.

Looking at the generally available statistics, it nearly seems impossible to find such a bright picture of the United States. Due to its relationship with the economic giants and lack of sense of realistically influencing the world around them, the middle class is increasingly viewed as a workforce component rather than as a creative force shaping the economy, and it is becoming profitable for businesses to use this workforce at the lowest possible cost. Furthermore, the middle class is disproportionately affected by contemporary issues, including the exorbitant cost of healthcare, the escalating cost of education, and the overwhelming burden of student loan debt. The most important thing is that the problematic nature of these phenomena extends beyond the harm done to those affected; there are, after all, companies and institutions on the other side of the phenomenon, such as banks and insurance companies. While some win, others lose. Can we better control these phenomena?

Financial elites and corporations

It is enough to look at the statistics indicating the rise of social divisions, and it becomes clear that the state system, including the activities of lobbying groups, is reorganizing the structure of reality in the American state in a direction that most closely meets the needs of big business and the demands of large corporations. The Gini coefficient in the United States is steadily rising, which may not be alarming if it weren't for the fact that American society is simply becoming poorer at the same time. It's a pretty clear picture of a reality where the elites are getting richer at the expense of the poorer.

What is most devastating for the future of America in all of this is the fact that it is a direction largely focused on the short-sighted benefits of financial elites, a direction that has ultimately led to deindustrialization over the years and weakened the real strength not only of American society but has simply struck at the strength of the American state. The United States of America can regain its greatness by reestablishing real investments, which will become a tangible reality. However, any investments that could build US power are not considered financially efficient enough by big businesses.

The financial business pragmatism that ultimately comes down to generating profits in the shortest amount of time is in opposition to the concept of rebuilding America. This pragmatic principle can be disastrous in the long run for the entire country and will not operate indefinitely in the current circumstances, in conflict with China and in the process of developing distinct trade and market frameworks around the world. The dollar-based global financial system demands one thing of America: a resolute commitment to playing the role of a hegemon, but a hegemon, for the time being, requires a rest before fighting. These changes imply that the spotlight on the most magnificent spectacle, Wall Street, will have to be dimmed. The dramaturgy of the performance is shifting, and it is clear that this will have an impact on the careers of present stars.

New World Order

The United States requires leadership that will allow this transformation to occur. When discussing the confrontation with China, it is important to remember that it will be mostly driven by changes in the landscape of existing political arrangements. Conflicts in the Middle East are rising, and the war in Ukraine is transforming Russia into a power capable of threatening all of Europe. If the United States finds itself in a situation where, focusing on confrontation with China and ensuring its power projection capabilities in the Indo-Pacific, it allows for the possibility of reorganizing existing structures in alliances such as NATO, one must remember that these allied arrangements were not established solely to bring security and peace to regions far from America; they were established to protect the United States' interests in those parts of the world. The easing of associated arrangements presents chances for the primary rival, chances for China. Any plans in this dimension raise questions about the balance of benefits and losses.
